Tame Impala LP Redesign
Approached with the challenge of creating a minimalistic redesign of Tame Impalas Innerspeaker LP for a Northwest music festival. I was tasked in conceptualizing a design that was to accurately depict who the band is and what their music is without actually using identifiable imagery. The goal was to capture the conceptualization of their style and ideas.
Without using identifiable pieces of the band I decided to move towards a more natural aesthetics direction, since it was a special music festival in the Northwest I knew the natural landscapes of the NW would allow for useful leveraging. To capture the essence of the band and their perspective, I decided to create a lensing effect by inverting a circular cutout portion of the image in the center to really embody how they look the world differently. Effort was also made to ensure that the photo itself still flowed naturally to eye. By preserving this flow, despite being visibly disrupted, it helps to support the aesthetic that while we all have different perspectives, we are all still connected.
